Castle - Secret's Safe with Me

Beckett (Stana Katic) and Castle (Nathan Fillion) link the murder of a young woman to a storage unit up for auction the next day. Unable to get a warrant for the unit, with the auction already underway, Castle is forced to outbid the other interested parties to the tune of $3,600 (and a promise to name a future character after the mother of one of the other bidders), but to solve the case they'll have to figure out what item in the junk was worth killing for.

Looking into the background of the owner of the storage unit Esposito (Jon Huertas) and Ryan (Seamus Dever) discover he was the twin brother of their other victim who died under mysterious circumstances. Beckett and Castle learn the young man's former employer was robbed of a $4 million diamond bracelet shortly before his death.


The team tracks down the victim's partner (Chad Lindberg) in the robbery, and findd the safe he stole from the storage locker, but when they come up with no bracelet (or any logical series of events that could have led their victim having the knowledge or right equipment to steal it) they come to an obvious conclusion. Although they have a clean-cut case of insurance fraud for near-broke socialite (Caroline Lagerfelt) who was bailed out by the insurance money for her "missing" bracelet, Castle continues to search for the true motive for the murder which he believes lies somewhere in the worthless items from the storage locker.

The episode has a couple of nice twists before revealing the real motive for murder as well as several humorous moments including the unexpected pleasant turn mid-tirade by Captain Gates (Penny Johnson) watching Castle fill up her precinct with his crap and her return to form with Castle's destructive way of literally breaking the case wide open, Beckett's horse-trading during the auction, Martha's (Susan Sullivan) announcement that she knows the truth about Castle and Beckett's relationship, the amped-up sexual tension at the precinct between writer and detective, and a tearful father/daughter moment as Alexis (Molly C. Quinn) moves away from home and into her college dorm.
