Bones - The Family in the Feud

Booth (David Boreanaz) and Bones (Emily Deschanel) find themselves in the middle of a 100 year-old feud between the Babcocks (Joe AdlerEzra BuzzingtonRebecca Tilney) and the Mobleys (Mackenzie MauzyWilliam Sanderson) when they one of the Babcocks turns up dead the woods. Once the body makes it back to the lab Bones and Cam (Tamara Taylor) find themselves in disagreement over the age of the victim, but it turns out, much to Daisy's (Carla Gallo) delight, neither was right in their estimation.

Aside from the animosity between the two families the investigation also uncovers the head of a small mining company (Tico Wells) who stands to make a large payday now that Tug Babcock is dead. Booth also uncovers a forbidden romance between the youngest members of the two clans. Meanwhile, Hodgins' (T.J. Thyne) obsession with truffles found near the murder scene not only helps nab the killer but assists Daisy in her investigation of the original murder which began the feud more than a century ago.

With Christine expelled by the Jeffersonian day care, and unable to find a nanny, Bones reluctantly agrees to let Max (Ryan O'Neal) help take care of his granddaughter, but finds it difficult to get over the fear that he may disappear without any notice just as he did when she was a child.

Although the episode lays the hillbilly storyline on a little too thick the murder investigation turns out well (even if we only get Larry without his brothers Darryl and Darryl). Once again this season the mystery of the week really takes a backseat to baby-centered storylines, but I've got to admit it was fun seeing Ryan return to reprise his role as Max Keenan.
