Hawaii Five-0 - Ha'alele

As McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) takes personal leave to find Joe White (Terry O’Quinn) and answers to Shellburne Danny (Scott Caan) is approached by Kamekona (Taylor Wily) after someone steals his shrimp truck and Max (Masi Oka) who believes the murder of a young woman may be tied to a serial killer who the coroner believes is still at large despite the state convicting a man (Pruitt Taylor Vince)  for one of the serial killer'scrimes years ago.

After talking with the grieving mother (Stacy Haiduk) and the girl's kinda creepy boyfriend (Keahu Kahuanui) who was tracking her moments with GPS the team still has no idea what the young woman was doing so far away from home on the night she died.

As Kono (Grace Park) is drafted into searching for the missing shrimp truck, Cho (Daniel Dae Kim) and Danny talk with one of the retired detectives (Kevin Dobson) who worked the "Trash Man" murders who agrees with Max that they prosecuted the wrong man and gives the the scoop of another murder, never attributed to the Trash Man, that could be the serial killer's first victim.

It's Max's personal connection to the case that gives Five-0 their first real lead in understanding how the killer chooses his victims, but it's that same connection that puts him in harms way when he finds himself alone with the killer (James M. Connor). Even without the show's leading man, the episode is a good one by giving Max an expanded role and focusing on Danny leading the team for a change.
