While the CBI searches for a murderer Jane (Simon Baker) runs into a friend from his carnival days, a stage magician (Andrew Rothenberg) working in the same casino where the victim was employed as a security guard. Although his friend is happy to see him, okay not exactly happy after he ruins his act, Jane can tell Jack is hiding something.
Rumors that the owner of the casino (Jay Acovone) may be connected to the mob, and that the head of security (Christopher Judge) got into a bar fight with the victim days before the murder both prove to be dead ends in the investigation. Rigsby (Owain Yeoman) and Cho (Tim Kang) head out to track down the other passenger (Rachel Perry) in the car who is either the last person to see the victim alive, the murderer, or both, but all the find is the dead body of her roommate.
To save his friend, rescue the missing woman (who turns out the be the magician's kidnapped girlfriend), and solve the murder, Jane agrees to help Jack's team (Christopher Backus, Niko Nicotera, Jackie Debatin) rob the casino. But to make the plan work he'll have to sell his crazy plan to Lisbon (Robin Tunney) and the CBI as well.
Not only do we get another episode with someone from Jane's colorful past the episode also delivers a casino robbery (in which he makes the CBI team accomplices) and a couple of fun magical sleights of hand along with a final twist. "Pink Champagne on Ice" proves to be one of the season's more entertaining episodes.
