The latest number the machine delivers to Reese (Jim Caviezel) and Finch (Michael Emerson) is an out of work city employee (Myk Watford) with a family who is quickly reaching his breaking point. Things aren't looking any better now that he has been framed for the assassination of the Congressman who pushed through the budgetary cutbacks that cost the man his job.
Finch's attempts to trace back the fake death threats sent to the Congressman in Powell's name accidentally allow the hacker (Rachel Miner) responsible into Finch's network and force him to shutdown and abandon his base of operations. Meanwhile, Reese is forced to stage a prison break and abduct Powell from the FBI.
Over their heads in a world of cut-throat politicians, Finch recruits a former person of interest (Paige Turco) with specialized knowledge in local politics who helps finger the real culprit - the Congressman's campaign manager (Damian Young).
A good episode that not only returns Zoe (Turco) but also introduces a new shadowy villain in the mysterious hacker known only as Root. I like the idea of former persons of interest showing up to help Reese from time to time and I'm glad to see Turco back for another episode. However, it's the introduction of Root, a villain who seems to be at least Finch's equal, that have far more impact on the remaining episodes of the season.
