It all ends here. The final issue of Boom Studios Darkwing Duck wraps up the DuckTales crossover "Dangerous Currency" and says goodbye to these characters as all Disney properties head to Marvel Comics. Another one of my favorite comics has come to an end.
Picking up from the events in Ducktales #6 (read that review) Darkwing Duck and friends are astonished at the sudden appearance of both Negaduck and Morgana as the true source of the dark slime is revealed to be Negaduck himself!
Darkwing is faced with a terrible decision. To free Morgana from the pocket dimension in which she is trapped he must also free one of his deadliest foes. Of course for a hero like Darkwing there's no choice at all.
With Negaduck brought back into our world the characters find themselves completely at his mercy. That is until Scrooge McDuck calls in his secret weapon - Donald Duck! That's right, Donald Duck saves the day by inciting the populace of both towns to fight back against the slime.
In the ensuing chaos the final battle finds Darkwing tricking Negaduck back through the portal and saving the day by doing nothing more than telling him the truth. Our heroes share one final moment of triumph before saying goodybe for the last time.
I'll miss you DW and here's hoping Marvel (whenever they get around to putting out a new title) gives us a comic half as good as the one Boom delivered every single month. For those who haven't kept up with the series I definitely recommend picking up the trade paperbacks and enjoying some of the most fun there's been in comics this past year-and-a-half. Must-read.
