When a longtime CIA asset is killed Arthur (Peter Gallagher) suspects a former CIA analyst (Bruce Davison) convicted of treason, and currently held in solitary confinement in a maximum security prison, may be behind it. The CIA decides to look into both of the man's daughters to see if they are involved.
Annie (Piper Perabo) is tasked with shadowing the younger of the two daughters, Grace Langford (Alexandra Holden), a horse trainer and one of only two people who has visited her father in prison. It's nice to see Holden given an emotionally demanding role here. I've been a fan of her's since her short recurring role on Ally McBeal.
After initially dismissing Grace as a suspect Annie witnesses a clandestine meeting between her suspect and an Saudi arms dealer with ties to Russia. However, further investigation suggests it's not Grace but her older sister Bebe (Jamie Brown) who is most likely the traitor. But when Joan (Kari Matchett) asks Annie to find the truth by turning one sister against the other she balks at the assignment, as the situation hits far too close to home with her own troubled relationship with her sister (Anne Dudek).
A very strong episode that gives us some friction between Annie and Joan as well as puts Annie in a dangerous situation that, even if it saves lives, will destroy a family. In the episode's B-story Auggie's (Christopher Gorham) advice backfires on him as we see more of Jai's (Sendhil Ramamurthy) manipulations. The episodes final moments will leave our heroine shaken, but ready to take on whatever comes next.
