When the machine spits out the name of a doctor (Linda Cardellini) in close proximity to a sexual predator (Adam Rothenberg) the path Reese (Jim Caviezel) needs to take seems clear. In some cases, however, things aren't quite what they seem. It turns out the doctor isn't the one in danger; it's the predator whose number is up.
The twist actually works quite well as Reese and Finch (Michael Emerson) uncover Dr. Tillman's need for revenge. Whether or not the man has it coming, Reese knows he can't let the doctor become a cold blooded killer.
The episode also includes a B-story involving Detective Fusco's (Kevin Chapman) trouble with the Torero Cartel who want the money his partners stole from him. His solution of trying to hand Reese over to them doesn't quite go as planned, but in the end the cop finds himself freed of his debt to the cartel and with a cushy new job in the department (and for Reese).
Detective Carter's (Taraji P. Henson) invetigation into the robbery from the police lockup continues as well. Another conversation with Finch makes the detective wonder if he knows more than he's telling.
"Cura Te Ipsum" is the best episode of the series to date. It's still stuck with a murky premise, but this episode is high on emotion and justifiable revenge that really carries the story through its weaker moments. The final sequence, a conversation between Reese and the object of the doctor's revenge, is left open for the viewer to interpret as they'd wish and judge for themselves whether Reese is a good man or simply a damaged man doing a job that needs to be done.
